One of my favorite fish in the whole ocean is the Mandarin Goby. Its lifestyle and behavior are much like any other goby, but its colors are absolutely stunning.
These vibrant and flashy fish can be found as the centerpiece of many saltwater aquariums. They are heavily sought after because of their beautiful display.
Mandarin Gobies are incredible. They look like they were hand painted by an artist. Does anyone know a good place to order one for my saltwater aquarium online? A mandarin goby would be the star of my collection.
ReplyDeleteOur local pet store has one of these - they really are gorgeous. It makes me wish saltwater tanks weren't so expensive to keep up with!
ReplyDeleteMandarins are actually in the dragonet family. These fish are particularly hard to keep. Saltwater tanks do not have to be particularly expensive; however this fish is not one that should be kept by a beginner.
ReplyDeleteI own a Blue Mandarin one.. And I was just wondering.. Why it is that makes them.. Like floot up and down.. Like ferries ;-).. Does anyone know exactly why they do that??.. Thanks very much,!.. M&L..
ReplyDeleteMandarin Gobies are bottom dwellers, so they prefer to scoot and flutter around close to the bottom instead of swimming freely all the time like many other fish. Most fish have a special organ called a swim bladder, which is basically a little ball filled with air inside them. They are able to squeeze or relax the air inside them, making them lighter or heavier in the water. This allows them to float up or down without moving a fin.
